First Lady Marilyn Shields
Marilyn S. Shields was born and raised in Detroit Michigan to the late Styling and Mother Jennie E. Shazier; she is the wife of Pastor Lionell Shields and is the mother of one daughter. She is a committed woman of God and loves the Lord with all her heart.
She is a missionary and has ministered the word of God at various churches, conducting workshops and has promoted gospel music for over 20 years as a tool to reach the lost. She enjoys singing spirituals, hymns and traditional gospel. She served in the choir at All Nations Church of God in Christ and Anderson Temple Church of God in Christ. She has served in several capacities as an exemplary leader and model of a virtuous woman as the President of the CWC, Puritans and Sunshine Band. Marilyn was the Founder and Director of Marilyn’s Dance Academy where her passion of dance grew into a ministry that helped young girls and sometimes boys develop into respectful young people with a desire to help others, their community and family. She was the executive assistant to the Chairman of the Board Promise Keepers helping to plan and organize national conferences all across the country. She was the Chairman’s Report for Bishop P.H. Porter, a National Youth Spokesperson for Hope for America, a Radio Host for KLDC, a gospel promoter. She served as an administrative assistant to Councilman Clyde Cleveland where she acted as a liaison between his office and the community for many years in Detroit, Michigan. She is a board member of Community Health Education Association, Capitol Region National Day of Prayer and Together In Ministry, Inc. and is the Administrator for the Watch and Pray (Restoring the Watch) prayer movement for the 21st Century. She currently serves as The School of Engineering and Applied Science, Executive Associate for George Washington University. But most importantly, she is a servant of the Lord where her true ministry began in the ministry of Helps. She believes that it is no longer good enough to just read, sing and shout about the power of God and never see the results of His power. But, rather, the church must grow to a place where it begins to experience the favor and the power of God in manifestation everyday. Having a desire to see women grow, she founded Sister to Sister Celebrating Victorious Women’s Group a women’s ministry that exists to support and equip women for life and ministry by encouraging them to take the next step in their personal and spiritual growth. She has a desire to share the experiences God has brought her through, but more so, to share the victorious life He has in store for us all.
Her life’s verse has been Isaiah 41:10: “Fear thou not, for I am with thee, be not dismayed for I am thy God. I will strengthen thee, yea, I will help thee, yea, I will uphold thee with the right hand of my righteousness.
